St. Baldrick’s Foundation

St. Baldrick's Foundation

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that focuses on raising money for infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers. Money raised helps close the funding gap in research costs, as only 4% of U.S. federal funding is dedicated to childhood cancer research. Funds are raised during head shaving events held around the world, including the annual event like the one IMT participates in at the Funny Bone in West Des Moines, Iowa.

IMT has been involved with the St. Baldrick’s head shaving events since 2010, raising over $200,000 for the foundation during this time! The 2017 fundraising events kicked off with a check presentation ceremony, including the CEO of St. Baldrick’s and IMT representatives, presenting $50,000 to Blank Children Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.

Over the years, dozens of IMT Employees have stepped up to become “shavees,” including four brave women! Throughout the past 8 years of events, IMT has had four employees inducted into St Baldrick’s “Knights of the Bald Table,” a privilege only given to those who have been a shavee seven or more times. Along with IMT’s four knights, we have several “Squires of Hope,” or those who have been shavees three or more times.

In addition to the shaving event, IMT hosts several fundraisers around our office, including teams of employees playing Family Feud, a bake sale, and some friendly competition during Lip Sync Battles. The St. Baldrick’s fundraising activities encourage company-wide participation, resulting in lots of laughs for a great cause! Though the subject matter is very serious, each employee at IMT channels his/her inner child during these fundraising events to have fun while raising money for childhood cancer research.
